Project Overview I am looking for an experienced BIM software developer to build a desktop automation tool for extracting firestop quantities from Autodesk Navisworks clash reports and Revit models. The objective is to automate the identification of wall and floor penetrations, calculate required opening sizes, and generate a detailed BOQ with minimal manual intervention. Existing Workflow Revit models are federated in Navisworks Manage. Clash Detection is performed between Architecture and MEP services. Currently, opening sizes and firestop quantities are calculated manually. I want this process to be automated. Required Features The application should: 1. Read Navisworks Clash Data Open NWF/NWD files or import exported XML clash reports. Extract all clashes. Read both Clash Item 1 and Clash Item 2 properties. 2. Extract Object Properties For each clash, extract: Element ID Category Family Type Level System Name System Classification Size (Pipe/Duct/Cable Tray/Conduit) Insulation Thickness GUID Bounding Box (Min/Max) Center Coordinates Clash Point (if available) 3. Identify Host Element Determine whether the service passes through: Wall Floor Ceiling Shaft Extract the host Element ID and associated properties. 4. Opening Calculation Automatically calculate: Required opening width Required opening height Clearance allowance Opening center coordinates Support: Pipes Ducts Cable Trays Conduits 5. Group Nearby Clashes If multiple services pass through the same wall or floor opening, group them into a single opening based on configurable spacing rules. 6. Firestop Quantity Estimation Generate quantities for: Sealant Mineral Wool Firestop Boards Fire Collars Sleeves Opening Area Perimeter Length The calculation logic should be configurable. 7. Excel Export Generate a formatted Excel report containing: Clash ID Opening Number Service Type Host Element Coordinates Opening Size Required Firestop Material Quantity Status 8. Optional Revit Integration Preferred but optional: Create Opening Families in Revit automatically. Place openings at calculated coordinates. Update parameters. Preferred Technologies Autodesk Navisworks .NET API Autodesk Revit API C# Python (for calculations and report generation) OpenXML / EPPlus for Excel WPF or WinForms for the UI Deliverables Complete source code Compiled application Installation guide User documentation Well-commented code Ability to modify calculation rules later Experience Required Please apply only if you have experience with: Autodesk Navisworks API Autodesk Revit API BIM automation Clash Detection workflows C# Python Please include examples of previous BIM automation projects or Navisworks/Revit API work.

I understand you need to automate the extraction of firestop quantities from Autodesk Navisworks clash reports and Revit models to replace manual opening calculations. I execute precise geometric clash parsing and host element correlation with strict configurable spacing rules, ensuring your Bill of Quantities eliminates costly site rework and manual estimation errors on the first run. Portfolio: https://www.freelancer.com/u/imMAHMOUD Send over your sample NWF files and current Excel templates, and I will begin structuring the Navisworks API parsing module today.

The real challenge here isn't reading clash data, it's the grouping logic. Deciding when multiple services share one opening versus needing separate penetrations requires configurable proximity thresholds, and getting that wrong means your BOQ is off from the start. I'll build the tool using the Navisworks .NET API to parse NWF/NWD files and extract clash pairs with full element properties, then implement the opening calculation engine in Python with configurable clearance rules per service type, and export everything to formatted Excel via EPPlus. For the optional Revit integration, I'll use the Revit API to place opening families at the calculated coordinates. One thing worth noting: Navisworks COM API has quirks with bounding box extraction on linked models. I've dealt with this before and know the workarounds. Best regards, Shayan
