I'm Anuar. I work for an engineering consultancy in Nenagh. Part of my job is to do surveys on structures, and compile the photos from those surveys into PDF reports.
At the moment for each day of surveying, there requires at least a day of data processing because we do it all manually.
I need someone who can write some script for us to automate the process.
The steps involved are to open the word document template and change the cover photo. Change one word in the title. Change one word in the preamble. Change the survey number. Change the footer. Change a few other small details. Most remains the same.
Then, watermark all the photos.
Then merge all photos with the word document and save as PDF.
Do you think this can be sped up or automated any bit?
The raw data is a few thousand photos of many different surveys in one folder. We manually separate the photos into each individual survey with a separate folder for each (i.e. a row of houses surveyed/photographed one after another would be split up afterwards in the office, and given a separate folder and survey number).
I was thinking, and excuse my ignorance but I don't know anything about this sort of thing, but I was thinking if each folder was given a title and other details that need to be changed (the ones I mentioned earlier). Could that info from the title be relayed into the word document.
By that I mean; is it possible to write code that uses info in the folder title, and take that info and input it into a word document? Does that make sense?
Or is there an easier way?
Do please get back to me on this as the boss is very interested in speeding things up. I recommended for him to find out about local programmers, and low and behold your details popped up when I typed in the search, with your expertise seemingly matching, I think, exactly what we need :)
