I'm making a model on Microsoft Excel to visualise the frequencies of notes on a guitar neck. I've placed an image under the model to demonstrate the appearance I am trying to create. It's important to be able to view the full model on one screen without using the scroll bars. I ran into difficulty as many of the values computed are contingent upon each other as will be explained below. I have split the task into three sections for clarity:
Note, the Green table on the left illustrates each note name of the musical alphabet and it's frequency. The difference between each note e.g. C0 and C0/D0 is called a semi-tone
I was producing a model guitar in Excel based on the image below the model (Please see attached). I have input the standard tuning on the "Open strings". Is it possible for the following frets 1-20 to accordingly increase by 1 semitone systematically based on the "Open strings" values. For example, "F2 87.31" would automatically follow "E2 82.41" under fret 1, and F2/G2 92.50 would follow this under fret 2 and so on up to fret 20.
It is also important that the "Open strings" can be changed individually. For example, the "E2 82.41" can be tuned down to "C2 65.31". In this case, Fret 1 would automatically adjust to "C2/D2 69.00" and Fret 2 would adjust to "D2 73.42" and so on upto fret 20.
I have made a table above the guitar neck model which currently shows the note names of the "open" strings in the model and their frequencies to the right as labelled under "Hz". From this, the music ratio's are automatically calculated onto a graph. Is it possible to link this with the model? For example, you could change the "Note name" E4 in the table to equal "fret 1" on the model (Which is F4) with the Hz on the table also increasing from 329.63 to 349.23.
It would also be beneficial to place the frequency graph and ratio graph in the same place with a drop down option to choose which one would be shown as to keep the model on one screen.
