hello, the phrase carrying all the risk is break it logically into columns, because prose does not have columns. columns only exist if the text contains a repeating unit, the same kind of item appearing again and again with the same parts, a reference and a date and a description each time, or headings that separate one record from the next. if that structure is there, the sheet becomes genuinely filterable. if it is not, splitting the text into three columns produces a paragraph broken in arbitrary places, which sorts and filters no better than the PDF did. so the first thing i would do is look at one sample file and propose a column layout before touching the rest, so we have agreed what one row represents. a row has to be one thing. the related trap is putting whole paragraphs into cells. that makes the workbook unpleasant to use, so long text sits in its own column while the fields you actually filter on stay short and clean beside it. on extraction itself, i rejoin words split by hyphens at line ends and keep the wording exactly as written otherwise. can you send one sample page so i can propose the column layout? once it is in Excel, what will you sort or filter by? that decides the columns. have a nice day.
