Import them as they are and the table technically fills up while quietly becoming unreliable. So the load goes in two passes. First a dry run that touches nothing and reports what does not fit: rows with types that clash with the column, duplicates by your key, values outside the allowed set. You look at that list and say what to fix automatically and what to drop. Only then the real import runs, in a transaction, so a failure halfway does not leave the table half-loaded, and it can be re-run after corrections without creating duplicates. One question: what database is it, and do I connect directly, or should the result be an import file plus the report of rejected rows?
