The computer i am repairing is running Windows 10. The computer booted normally but got stuck on the logon screen and the cursor would not blink. This made me believe it was a hard drive failure. Yet, i was still able to access the files via an external bay drive. So i proceeded into the Windows Recovery Environment.
First off, i rebuilt the bcd on Windows 10 which is now causing Windows 10 to no longer boot. And the windows installation is no longer being recognized.
Anywho, the following is the list of commands i typed into Win RE. When trying to run the command [url removed, login to view] /fixboot i got access is denied.
When trying to run [url removed, login to view] /scanos it says there are 0 windows installations.
I tried [url removed, login to view] /rebuildbcd and it failed. Now when trying to boot up into windows 10 nothing boots up. I am guessing this happened because i renamed multiple files including the boot directory.
I will try to find documentation on what folders i renamed and what files. In the meantime, i am posting this so that i may get someone to help me out.
We continually get computers to repair and fix so this is something that we can easily get many jobs for and might be looking for someone long term. That is highly possible...!
I repaired the Boot Configuration Data, MBR, and bootsector.
Now the computer turns on. However, the mouse and keyboard do not move at all. The time is correct and you can see on the bottom right corner of the screen that the internet is connected via the ethernet icon display.
I believe that it was a recent update for Windows 10 that caused my mouse and keyboard to not work. Because, Microsoft released an article stating that a February 13, 2018 update caused a racing program error when updating.
Here are some documentations and articles on what updates i am speaking about that might have caused damage to the MOUSE and KEYBOARD.
I tried safe mode and the keyboard and mouse do not work.
I tried backing up the old C:\Windows\system32\config\SAM, SECURITY, DEFAULT, ELAM, SAM, COMPONENTS, and DRIVERS to C:\Windows\system32\config\old2. Then, i went ahead and copied files from source C:\Windows\system32\config
egbackfiles on over to C:\Windows\system32\config folder.
I rebooted the computer and now i get a blue screen of death. Because of this i tried using the DISM command as follows;
Dism /image:C:\ /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:H:\sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess
However, it did not recognize the /limitaccess switch. So i did it without the /limitaccess switch.
Again, with the previous command i got unkown source. I was pointing the source to my Windows 10 USB installation drive. Which contains the “install.wim” file.
Anyway's, I have completely uninstalled the WindowsUpdates. But, now i get a blue screen of death. I am guessing this is because i messed with the registry hive files.
Who can connect to my PC via my WindowsPE portable teamviewer?
