Create Short Copy of Wine Descriptions for Boutique Wine Website

Business Description

Boutique Wineries ([url removed, login to view]) is an online boutique wine gateway, currently representing over 130 wineries from wine regions all over Australia. Boutique Wineries focuses on providing customers with easy and convenient access to the wines made by many of Australia’s finest, yet small, boutique wineries. This access gives the customer the opportunity to enjoy beautiful wines that are otherwise difficult to find. Many of our customers know Boutique Wineries as the place to find that particular wine that they once tasted on a winery tour, and yet haven’t been able to find anywhere else. Boutique Wineries is also “the place” to enjoy wines with a difference. While there are over 2,000 wineries in Australia, the customer will be hard pressed to find the majority of them except at their cellar doors! So, there are a lot of beautiful, fine wines out there that we just don’t ordinarily get to hear about... wines from all of the wine regions across Australia.

When ordering through Boutique Wineries, the customer are ordering direct from the winery, just as if the customer were at the cellar door. They package the wine and send it straight to the customer.

Project Purpose

The purpose of this project is to help visitors to the website choose a wine variety that will suit their individual tastes and preferences. This will be done by providing some descriptive information for each wine variety.

Project Scope

The scope of this project is to create new copy and improve/replace the existing copy for the "wine variety descriptions" found via the drop down box at [url removed, login to view]

To see the "wine variety descriptions", go to [url removed, login to view] and click the drop down box on the top left hand side of the page.

In the drop down box, you will see 4 categories of wine varieties:

- Red Wine

- White Wine

- Sparkling Wine

- Dessert/Fortified Wine

On selecting each of the above 4 categories, you will see a list of wine varieties with some short copy (or space for short copy) for each.

The scope of this project is to create short copy (approx. 100 to 300 words) for each wine variety:

- Where there is currently no copy for the wine variety, create new copy.

- Where there is existing copy for the wine variety, improve/replace the copy.

Each "wine variety description" should include interesting facts on the wine variety, such as:

- best climate for growing this variety

- best Australian wine regions for this variety

- differences in flavour for the wine variety when produced in different climates/regions

- characteristics of the wine variety, such as taste, body, etc

- any other interesting facts about the wine variety that will enhance the reader's understanding

The format of the copy shall be easy to read, i.e. have short sentences and short paragraphs, and shall be interesting to read, i.e. drawing in the reader with descriptive words that arouse the taste and smell senses.

The copy should be provided in a MS Excel document, with one column for the wine variety and one column for the copy. Simple HTML code, i.e. <br><br> shall be used to create paragraph breaks.

The factual information can be found from your preferred source, however the copy shall be in your own words. Once finished, the copyright of the copy shall be owned by Boutique Wineries.
