I need an existing PCB design modified to integrate an TJA1021/MCP2025 chip to allow an ESP32-ETH01 v1.4 board to communicate with an aircon unit using LINBUS, and verify adequate power delivery by simply plugging in an ESP32-ETH01 v1.4 board into this PCP. keeping in mind that the ESP board's first two pins on either end is overlapping with the RJ45 port placement, which will need consideration so that it fits well physically. You'll also need to update traces and components as necessary to the relevant pins on the ESP32-ETH01 v.14 to facilitate serial comms with TJA1021/MCP2025. This is based on an open-source project to allow removal of LG airconditioners' wifi module and replacing it with an ESP-based device that runs ethernet, does not report to LG servers, and does not use any form of wireless communication. Original project location: [login to view URL] The subfolder of the project called "hardware" contains some of the files I have attached here. Their schematic works with a different ESP32 board, and it doesn't have ethernet. I need ethernet connectivity, and to ensure that power is provided to the ESP32-ETH01 v1.4 board from the updated PCB design. Requirements: - Add MCP2025 to the design - Include connectors for direct connection to ESP32-ETH01 V1.4 - Update traces and components as necessary - Ensure power delivery circuitry for the ESP32 is covered from the amended - PCB design amendment should allow us to simply connect the ESP32-ETH01 to the board and for it to have enough power to function You will need to work from Gerber files, along with placement and BOM files. Ideal skills and experience: - Proficiency in PCB design and modification - Familiarity with MCP2025 and ESP32-ETH01 V1.4 - Experience working with Gerber files - Attention to detail and accuracy

Hi, I understand the requirement clearly. You already have an existing PCB based on the open-source LG controller, and the main task is to adapt it for the ESP32-ETH01 V1.4 with Ethernet and LIN communication. I can modify the existing design to: Integrate the MCP2025 LIN transceiver Add the required connectors for direct plug-in of the ESP32-ETH01 V1.4 Map the UART pins correctly between the ESP32 and MCP2025 Design/verify the power delivery so the ESP32-ETH01 receives a stable supply with sufficient current capability Account for the RJ45 and overlapping ESP32 header pins to ensure proper physical clearance and fit Update traces, components, and routing where required Work from the provided Gerbers, BOM and placement files and use the original open-source hardware as a reference I have strong experience with ESP32, automotive/industrial communication interfaces, power protection, and PCB modifications, including working with existing designs rather than unnecessarily redesigning everything from scratch. I can also verify the final design against the ESP32-ETH01 V1.4 pinout and provide production-ready fabrication files. Ready to review the existing files and start the modification.

Hi, I have experience modifying ESP32-based control boards with Ethernet, UART/LIN interfaces, protected power inputs, and production-ready PCB revisions, including systems with 10+ mixed-signal I/O channels. I have also reconstructed and updated designs from Gerbers, BOM/CPL data, and incomplete source files where connector geometry and mechanical fit were critical. Approach ✅ I will reverse-engineer the existing PCB from Gerbers/BOM/CPL, then integrate the MCP2025/TJA1021 LIN transceiver, required protection, and UART connections to the ESP32-ETH01 v1.4. ✅ I will verify the available supply rail, calculate ESP32-ETH01 peak current margin, and update the regulator, filtering, decoupling, and connector power paths where necessary. ✅ I will redesign placement around the RJ45 overhang, confirm header clearance and mating geometry, then run DRC/DFM and regenerate fabrication and assembly files. Questions ✅ What voltage/current is available from the LG air-conditioner connector, and is the existing board already regulating this rail? ✅ Do you prefer MCP2025 or TJA1021, and which ESP32 UART pins should remain available for programming/debug? ✅ Can you provide the Gerbers, BOM, CPL, board dimensions, and exact ESP32-ETH01 v1.4 mechanical drawing? Best, Yaroslav

Hello, The main challenge is adapting the existing PCB to support LIN communication through MCP2025/TJA1021 while making the ESP32-ETH01 V1.4 a true plug-in module, with reliable power and no mechanical conflict with its RJ45 and first two pins. I can modify the existing design around the available Gerbers, placement and BOM, including: * MCP2025/LIN transceiver and UART connections to the correct ESP32 pins * ESP32-ETH01 V1.4 connector/pin mapping and trace updates * Power delivery sized for the ESP32 module and its operating/transient current * PCB placement and clearance around the RJ45 area to ensure the module fits correctly I would first review the existing PCB files, BOM, Gerbers and ESP32-ETH01 pinout, then define the required schematic/net changes, update the PCB layout and routing, and verify connectivity, power paths and physical clearances before delivering the amended design files. My background in embedded hardware, PCB design, ESP32 and communication interfaces is directly relevant to this modification. Best regards, Hamza

Hi, So this is a targeted modification, not a redesign — take the existing LG HVAC controller PCB, add a TJA1021/MCP2025 transceiver for LIN-bus comms to the aircon, and reroute/repower everything so an ESP32-ETH01 v1.4 drops straight in, including working around the pin overlap with the RJ45 footprint. I'll start by reviewing the existing Gerbers, placement and BOM files plus the original ESP32-DevKit-based schematic from the repo, so the LIN-bus wiring from that reference design carries over correctly to the new transceiver placement. Given the ETH01's pin layout physically conflicts with the RJ45 connector position, that's the trickiest part — I'll work out the cleanest routing path there before touching power delivery, then confirm the updated board supplies enough current for the ESP32-ETH01 under Ethernet load, not just idle draw. Quick question — do you have a preference for keeping this on the same board outline/size, or is some expansion around the RJ45 area acceptable if it makes the ETH01 fit cleaner?

Hi, I have worked with ESP32 boards, Ethernet and PCB design before, so this project is within my experience. I can modify the existing design for the ESP32-ETH01 V1.4 and add the LIN transceiver connection. I will also check the physical position of the ESP32 board, especially the RJ45 area and the overlapping pins you mentioned. For the power section, I can add an LDO or DC/DC converter from the available 12V supply to 5V or 3.3V, depending on the final connection and power requirement of the ESP32-ETH01. Since the original design files are Gerber, BOM and placement files, I would first check how much of the PCB needs to be reconstructed before making the changes. Regards WEN

Dear Client, Yes—I’m happy to start with modifying the existing PCB for ESP32-ETH01 v1.4 and LINBUS support. The key is integrating the TJA1021/MCP2025 correctly while preserving power delivery and clearance around the RJ45 connector. PCB Must Innovations brings 30+ years of electronics/PCB experience across ESP32 hardware, LIN interfaces, power regulation, connector integration, reverse-engineering and production PCB modifications. Profile: https://www.freelancer.in/u/electronicsdone I can reconstruct the existing design from the Gerber, placement and BOM files, integrate the LIN transceiver stage, verify the ESP32-ETH01 v1.4 power budget, update the UART interface circuitry, and resolve the connector/mechanical constraints for a clean plug-in fit. The amateur trap is solving the schematic and discovering the Ethernet module physically collides or browns out under load. Haha, RJ45 connectors are not known for negotiating space politely. I’m happy to offer a free consultation first so we can review the existing files and identify the minimum safe changes before reconstruction. One question: do you want the ESP32-ETH01 mounted directly with headers, or can its position/orientation shift slightly to clear the RJ45 overlap? Message me with that answer and I’ll outline the modification and verification path before you commit. You’ll get reliable LIN communication, adequate power and clean mechanical fit. Kind Regards Prat PCB Must Innovations

I can help modify the PCB to integrate the MCP2025/TJA1021 LIN transceiver and adapt the board for the ESP32-ETH01 v1.4 mechanically and electrically. Using the Gerbers, placement, and BOM, I’ll review the current routing, verify the ESP32-ETH01 pin mapping, and update the traces/components around the serial interface so the LINBUS link is reliable. I’ll also check the power path so the ESP32-ETH01 receives stable supply directly from the amended PCB, while keeping the RJ45 and board-edge clearances in mind for a proper fit. I’ve worked on PCB Layout and Circuit Design changes where existing hardware needed a clean retrofit rather than a full redesign, so I’ll focus on preserving what already works while making the necessary hardware changes carefully. If helpful, I can also flag any layout risks early before you commit to fabrication Would you like me to preserve the existing footprint locations as much as possible, or is a partial component re-layout acceptable to fit the ESP32-ETH01 v1.4 cleanly? Best regards, Miguel
