We are seeking qualified firm’s with capabilities and experience to expand our resources for technical illustrations. This support will include the authoring of step-by-step, operational-type illustrations to support procedural maintenance tasks such as removal, installation, disassembly and reassembly (refer to attached samples of the type of illustrations required).
To further demonstrate our requirements I have attached two files:
1) Diaphragm [url removed, login to view] –includes two .dwg files showing installation on a diaphragm on the car end.
2) Diaphragm [url removed, login to view] – includes sample isometic line drawing which shall be generated from the input dwgs.
This is a example of the type of inputs that would be provided for your illustrators and the type of illustration to generated.
The main source of input for generating such illustrations will be 2D manufacturing and assembly drawings.
The type of illustrations generally required are:
Isometric Projection - Line Drawings - Items or equipment drawn as viewed by the user whenever possible. Rotation views of items or equipment shall be used as required to aid in identifying and locating the items or equipment.
Orthographic projection – Line Drawings – For General Arrangement drawings or equipment where depth is not required.
Full, cut-away and exploded-view line drawings (illustrations) - For all parts of an assembly to support an illustrated parts catalog.
Simplified schematics and block diagrams - to assist the user in understanding operation and troubleshooting of complex equipment.
Format - Illustrations and graphics are to be provided in CGM4 (Computer Graphics Metafile) format (this may change on project-to-project basis)
Line weights - shall be of sufficient width and density for reproduction to final size. Line weights shall not drop below #00 weight after final reduction. Parallel lines shall be drawn at least one (1) line width apart.
General Locator - A general locator to aid the reader in locating area(s) containing the specific equipment mentioned in the procedures shall be used.
