This is a "proof of concept" or prototype, to verify the feasibility of a lager project. It consists of two parts:
(a) A very simple GUI front end written in C# and WPF (XAML)
(b) An even simpler back end written in native C++
The 2 components should communicate (sending data and execution commands) in both directions.
As an example you could have a button that queries: "Which is your current default directory?" and the C++ app would reply.
If the prototype works properly more features will be added (not part of the project). You MUST document clearly the steps needed to add more functionality to the communications between the 2 parts. We may later want to generate some grid data on one side (C++) and pass it to the other (C#) so it generates a spreadsheet. This is not part of the project, but you should prepare the facilities so I (or you)can add the Excel feature later.
The communication should be the recommended best practice, which I believe it is COM.
You should be ready to deliver all source code at any time, before the project is finished.
We use MSVS-2010.
I'm ready to give this project a go. My actual previous experience is in PHP but I've always fancied C++. Give me a chance with this and you won't be disappointed.
