generate assembly language from the compiler in your C program for more precise control.
The objective is to compile and generate assembly files, given a .C file using compiler options.
Then comment and annotate the assembly code
You will be asked to copy the "math library" function provided in the attached file.
You will use the compiler option in C or C++, and using the compiler to generate Assembly code (also called Object Code).
** There are switches during compile that can generate the assembly code for you **
The IA-32 Architecture includes the floating point instructions needed to implement several functions. Just identify where these functions are called.
Take the attached code in a text file and save in a .c file. If you take the original file I provided, and try to compile it as is, you will get a wierd compiler error. This is the compiler lying as it finds hidden characters in the file, inserted during the upload.
The work-around is: 1) Save the .c file to your desktop etc
2) Open the file using WordPad (not NotePad) or such ANSI compatible editor. This will remove the hidden characters
3) Save it back as a .c file, or cut-and-paste from Wordpad into Visual C++ editor or notepad. This will get rid of the hidden characters.
The file should compile after the above steps to rid the hidden characters
