Link 2 C++ programs in Visual Studio

I am a civil engineering faculty member and I am looking for help with what I believe is a relatively small, .NET/C++ problem related to my research. My students have written 2 earthquake risk-related simulation models. They were both written in C++ (the first using Visual Studio 2003, the second using Visual Studio 2005). The first model has a GUI; the second does not. The second program was designed to interact with the first (both programs use and modify the same input file), but currently the interaction has to be done manually. The second model runs until it needs the first model, then it pauses. I run the first model which changes one of the shared input files. Then I start the second model again. The second model runs until it pauses again, etc. I am requesting a bid from someone who can help automate this interaction.

I have had 2 computer science students look at the problem but back out due to other obligations. Upon request, I can share the suggestions they made for how proceed. I also have the source code from both models.

As deliverables, I would like any new code that is written to accomplish the automatic interaction (in the form of modified versions of the 2 models, and/or a new piece of code), and a short explanation of how the automation was accomplished and how to use the models to make it happen.
