Biomedical engineer - Maintain Veterinary Equipment

We are expanding our network of subcontracted engineers to meet growing client demand across the UK. Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Freelance Biomedical Service Engineer (subcontractor) to assist with the annual servicing and compliance testing of medical and veterinary equipment at our client sites. The role requires a competent, self-motivated professional who can represent NH Maintenance with professionalism and ensure equipment is tested and maintained to the highest standard. Key Responsibilities Perform annual servicing, safety checks, and calibration on equipment such as: Oxygen concentrators (Oxyvet 3 – 5L) General anaesthesia (GA) machines and vaporisers Vetclave vacuum autoclaves (MDS Medical Ltd) IM3 GS Deluxe oil-free compressors IM3 Ultra S ultrasonic descalers Electrosurgical/diathermy units (advantageous) Carry out electrical safety testing (IEC 60601 standards). Complete service documentation, test reports, and affix service labels. Ensure compliance with all relevant standards (MHRA, ISO, manufacturer specifications). Communicate effectively with clients on-site, maintaining NH Maintenance’s reputation for quality. Requirements Proven background as a Biomedical Engineer / Clinical Engineer / Medical Equipment Service Engineer. Formal training or manufacturer certification on anaesthesia, autoclaves, or dental/oxygen equipment is highly desirable. Own calibrated test equipment (e.g., oxygen purity analyzer, flowmeter, electrical safety tester, autoclave validation kit). Professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites nationwide. Ability to work flexibly as a subcontractor, delivering work on time and to specification.
