Attached is our existing design for an outdoor embedded computer. We are seeking to rebuild this design with a few goals in mind:
1.) Maximizing ruggedness and extending the life of these units in extreme temperature conditions.
2.) Reduce the number of interconnects and thus points of failure.
3.) Converting to a SOM architecture.
4.) Integrate many of the external pieces (extra Ethernet connections, wifi, cellular) into a SOM carrier board.
4.) Reproducing the mechanical design of the enclosure to minimize size and maximize heat dissipation.
This project is all about building the most robust and durable outdoor PC possible. Seeking providers with extensive experience in building IP rated computers for harsh environments. Currently these PC's run Lubuntu OS and we would like to continue with that OS.
