One thing in your spec is worth settling first, because it changes how the finished photos look. You've asked to keep shadows true to the originals, and also for the white backdrop to be even and consistent. Those pull against each other slightly. The shadow on the current background is part of that background, so removing it entirely gives a cut-out look, while keeping a soft shadow under the chin and jaw keeps the face looking three-dimensional. Passport offices usually want the second. Tell me which you're after. The other variable is hair. Straight, defined hair is quick. Loose flyaway strands take longer to mask without the halo you mentioned. Send the photos and I'll know straight away.
