Hi there. Emma here. More than happy to help. It sounds like the Extender isn't up to the job to be honest. I would suggest you maybe consider getting a more robust mesh extender. A lot of my clients use the TP Link Deco range as an alternative network eco system. It will provide better coverage around the property. Does the Ruark have an ethernet port at the back? The other option is to purchase a second extender and the system into that. Feel free to contact me. All details available at my website.
