Overview - This is to be an add-on to an existing small community tourism-related website. Businesses become members of the community website and receive a full page in the site for the purpose of promoting their business - Accommodators, Realtors, Activity or Service Providers, etc.
We want to be able to offer the option of adding an availability calendar to their page. This means being able to add some code to the page that will automatically display the current month and the next month showing availability. A drop down menu will allow a visitor to select a different month up to 12 months in advance.
Admin side - This will involve adding a simple "Admin Login" link to those pages that opt-in to the service. This link will then take a member to a login prompt asking for their username and password. Once logged in, the required user-friendly tool will guide the business member through the process of changing the availability of their accommodation, activity or service.
It might also be nice to have some type of site-wide availability search functionality. Perhaps a drop down that allows a visitor to select type of search - ie. Accommodations, Activities, Spa Services, etc. - then to be able to select the month of interest. The results page would then display links to those businesses in the site that offer availability for the requested timeframe.
Your thoughts and ideas on how to enhance or properly implement this new tool are welcome. It needs to be a simple plug-in of some kind so that minimal site modification is required. More details can be discussed with interested individuals.
