I. Analysis of the Events, Team Leader and Teammates
1. Discuss the responsibilities of the team leader and the team followers. (Porter, 1995; Stewart 1996)
a) What were the actual responses of team followers? Did they have the capacity to do something differently under this very stressful situation? (Polzer, 2009)
b) Why did team followers not listen to their team leader?
c) Did any teammates splinter off into factions? Why and for what reasons?
d) Why did team followers not band together and make their own decisions on what to do?
2. Evaluate Dodge thoroughly as a leader.
a) Consider duality of leadership (Rashid et al 2013) and situational theories of leadership (Sims, Faraj & Yun 2009).
b) Can this leader be identified as a level 5 leader? Why or why not (Collins 2001)
c) What aspects of Simon Sinek’s (Ted Talk, 2014) argument about leadership and safety did Dodge violate?
3. Is there anything we can say about the personality profiles of these individuals? What inferences can you make? If you can glean something, what information does this give you to identify how individual teammates responded?
