Lock Joint specialises in joints in concrete footpaths (Articulated Joints / Expansion Joints) to increase longevity in footpaths, cycleway and mixed used paths by preventing cracking and tripping hazards which with are common issues that councils face. Maintenance of these paths therefore becomes an expensive upkeep.
Currently the standard common practice within Australia and New Zealand is to carry out a 1/3 dummy joint (aka trowel joint, saw cut) every 1.5X the width of the footpath with an expansion joint (i.e. Bitumin board, Kanite) every 15 metre.
What we would like to demonstrate is the effectiveness of using Lock Joint in lieu of the current practice by doing a comparison between them both. This article can then be send to every council with Australia and New Zealand to allow them to fully appreciate the benefits that Lock Joint can provide to the paths within their council.
Longevity of paths
Reduces maintenance costs
Smoother finish of joints in paths
Preventing Tripping Hazards
Reduce growth of weeds in joints
Ideally we would like to see all councils / shires specify in their standards the use of Lock Joint as the best means of a control joint over the use of saw cuts / dummy joints / tool joints
