OWN THE DREAM
Crippled by over 50years of ineffective governance, corruption, treasury looting and recent surge in terrorism; Nigeria is on the brink of disastrous collapse until a group of 5 average Joes get inspired by the success of a social media inspired campaign to garner worldwide support for the campaign (#BRINGBACKOURGIRLS) to release 250 girls kidnapped by terrorists decide to mobilize youths via social media platforms to take over power from the ruling party in an Obama 2008 style.
With no money and just ideas, they decide to launch a fundraising project called “OWN THE DREAM”. The project required young people to donate ten naira ([url removed, login to view]) daily/weekly/or monthly. They are shocked at the response they get from young people as over 20million people sign up to “OWN THE DREAM”. After running the ruling party very close in their first election attempt, they gain more support for “own the dream” with over 50million people signing up.
Managing success becomes a problem as internal power tussle of who becomes presidential candidate for the next election and other key positions threaten to tear down the group. Having run the ruling party very close, they are now taken more seriously and the ruling party goes after them in different directions.
OWN THE DREAM chronicles the suspense and intrigues of how these young men of different backgrounds and persuations pulled together to drive a movement that saw them ultimately win the election at the second time of trying.
All 5 guys have different persuasions, one of them is driven by his father’s death campaigning for control of oil resources of the oil rich Niger Delta region in Nigeria, the next guy’s family lost everything during the 1966-70 civil war in Nigeria because his family had to escape ethnic cleansing from the north and left behind everything, the third guy has a first class degree and has not found a job leading him to apply his IT skills to developing web programs to survive, the fourth guy just lost his job in one of the banks and the other is a school dropout, his parents could no longer afford fees and he had to leave the university in his third year but he is a gifted leader and very intelligent.
