Hi - this is an initial introduction to explain things and to allay any initial fears you have when you see the request for article writing. I am not talking about $[url removed, login to view] words.
I work as an editor for an online fashion magazine [url removed, login to view] - where there are a variety of topics and a few new ones which are being added as I type.
What I am looking for is some one who is both into 'lifestyles' and also writing. I looked at your website and loved your photography - there is a section on wedding photography that you may enjoy writing about. I am in the process if trying to change the direction of the content to be more 'educational' and engaging rather than simple rote English. I want people who notice things in pictures and photographs and understand why they are there to do the writing now. I want educated opinions and gently thought-provoking texts that really engage the reader.
One primary concern is I am looking for someone who can commit long-term to this work - I have been with the site for over a year and will be there for a long time to come. I want to build up a team of good new writers who will commit having seen off all but one of the original team.
An eye for detail and the ability to be passionate and express yourself is better than perfect spelling and grammar - I proofread and edit everything anyway so if the content is good, I can make the English faultless without changing the style or tone.
For Freelancer the pay is exceptional, and actually today I think it is pretty good for anywhere. The ariticles are basically 300 words and the pay is AUS$9.00 per article. You will be given a URL for a set of photos or a YouTube video and guidelines on how to set the article out and what is essential information. Once you have the hang of things 5 articles in 2 hours is achievable. From a personal point of view I like the word count as that means you don't run out of things to say and have to start searching for filler content.
Ideally and to start off with around 15 articles per week would be required - 3 a day for 5 days a week - however if you want to do all 15 in one go, that is fine, just so long as they are done on time.
The list of topics ranges from fashion - clothes accessories, bags, shoes, jewellery etc - hairstyles and make-up/beauty, wedding fashion - dresses/ accessories/ jewellery, special days/events - parties/halloween/christmas etc, arts and crafts - making stuff, food, property - interior and exterior design/pools, gardens etc and holiday destinations/places. If there are any particular subjects you like let me know - and more importantly what topics you wouldn't want to write about.
Because Freelancer have this new and stupid thing where you can't bid on projects while you have an awarded project outstanding, let me have your thoughts regarding the work and whether you would be interested. Initially there would be a trial of 2 articles which I would pay you a nominal $6.00 as they will be repeat articles used as a comparison, but I personally hate it when people demand you do free trials as you know they are harvesting cheap material.
Once you have replied, reject the project offer so you can then get on with bidding on other projects, but we will still be able to communicate via IM as this project will have opened one up. I wish Freelancer wasn't so bloody complicated!
