Testing apparatus on wheels that uses electromagnets and a DC motor for propulsion. The motor will spin a tube of ferromagnetic fluid (ferrofluid, acts as a magnet when magnetized) and electromagnets will surround the tube. I need to select, activate and control the magnets and motor using an arduino mega (both strength of magnets and speed of motor).
we have a platform that is on wheels. At the center of the system is a DC motor. Attached to this DC motor will be a hollow tube filled with ferrofluid (shouldn’t really matter to you, but it’s a highly magnetized fluid). Surrounding this motor and tube will be 5 mounted electromagnets. We want to be able to activate the motor and electromagnets with a button/switch that will be able to turn on/off the motor and the individual electromagnets. We also want a connected potentiometer to be able to control the speed of the motor and the power delivered to the electromagnets. So if we want the system to travel east, we’d activate the motor and the East electromagnet, thus propelling the system in that specified direction. This will be done with an arduino mega 2560 rev 3. Which I believe will be C coding.
