I’m spearheading VibeAlert, a brand-new assistive safety system that turns traditional smoke-alarm tones into unmistakable physical alerts for Deaf and Hard of Hearing users. Because nothing like it exists yet, the project starts at zero and finishes with a fully working product on my desk. Top priority is hardware engineering. I need a compact, battery-powered unit that can: • Detect the standard Temporal 3 smoke-alarm acoustic signature in real time • Respond instantly with strong, patterned haptic vibration motors • Communicate via Bluetooth with a companion mobile app for configuration, status and firmware updates Everything else builds around that core. The job spans custom PCB design, component selection, enclosure layout, embedded firmware, signal-processing algorithms, the mobile app (iOS and Android), and usability testing with DHH participants. I’m open to adding a visual strobe in later revisions, but phase one must nail the vibration and Bluetooth pipeline first. Deliverables 1. Schematics, BOM and Gerber files for the prototype PCB 2. Assembled working prototype with tuned vibration feedback 3. Embedded code (C/C++ or MicroPython) handling audio capture, pattern recognition and BLE communication 4. Cross-platform app source (React Native or Flutter preferred) with pairing, alert history and settings 5. Documentation: build instructions, API, test results and user guide Acceptance criteria include: reliable 95 %+ detection accuracy in a noisy home environment, sub-500 ms alert latency, and eight-hour battery life in sleep mode. If you have proven experience in low-power electronics, haptics and Bluetooth LE stacks, let’s bring VibeAlert from concept to life.

Hi there, I have carefully reviewed the VibeAlert requirements and understand that the key challenge is combining reliable Temporal-3 smoke-alarm detection, strong haptic feedback, low-power operation, and Bluetooth LE into a compact assistive device. My background in mechatronics, embedded electronics, PCB design, sensor interfacing, firmware, power management, and communication systems is well suited to this development. I can handle the complete hardware flow including microphone/audio front end, MCU and BLE architecture, haptic motor driving, battery charging/power management, custom PCB design, firmware, signal-processing implementation, and prototype testing, while also supporting the mobile-app integration. I would approach the project in stages, first proving the Temporal-3 detection and vibration/BLE pipeline on development hardware, then moving to the compact custom PCB and enclosure. This reduces development risk and allows the detection accuracy, latency, and power consumption to be measured early. Given my skillset, I can move quickly from concept to a working prototype. Please send me a message and we can define the first milestone and begin immediately. Best regards, Samuel tshibangu

I understand the critical need for VibeAlert to reliably translate auditory smoke alarm signals into immediate haptic feedback, much like real-time signal processing in embedded audio systems. My experience with developing custom audio detection algorithms and integrating them with low-power microcontroller platforms for rapid response applications directly aligns with your project's core requirement. My proposed approach involves utilizing a low-power ARM Cortex-M microcontroller for real-time acoustic signature analysis. I'll implement a digital signal processing (DSP) pipeline to capture and analyze the Temporal 3 pattern using a sensitive MEMS microphone. Upon detection, the microcontroller will trigger high-torque vibration motors through dedicated MOSFET drivers, ensuring a strong, discernible alert. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) will be integrated for seamless communication with the companion app, enabling configuration and status updates. Power management will be a key focus, optimizing for extended battery life. Could you elaborate on the desired form factor and any specific battery chemistry constraints you have in mind for VibeAlert? I'm eager to discuss how my skills can bring this vital safety device to fruition.

The Temporal 3 acoustic signature detection is the concrete constraint here. I will build a compact, battery-powered unit using an ESP32 microcontroller for its Bluetooth and processing power, also I will use a MEMS microphone to capture sound, and a TI ADC for clean signal acquisition so the signal processing algorithms for smoke-alarm detection can run accurately. The vibration motors will be driven by MOSFETs for reliable high current delivery. I'll design the PCB layout in KiCad. The embedded firmware will be written in C, specifically targeting real-time detection and instantaneous haptic response. I would build the core detection hardware first, so the signal processing and firmware have a stable platform to develop against. What specific battery chemistry and capacity are you envisioning for the target runtime? I have a 5.0 rating across 10 reviews on here, and Preferred Freelancer status. After the first day or two, you will have a functional prototype board with the microphone and initial sound capture working.
