I’m kicking off a multi-phase R&D effort devoted to the design and development of cutting-edge microstrip antennas. The overarching targets are straightforward: boost usable bandwidth while simultaneously lifting signal strength, all without compromising the core advantages of printed technology. Phase by phase, I’ll be iterating from theoretical models through to lab-verified prototypes. You’ll take the lead on concept generation, electromagnetic simulation (HFSS, CST or an equivalent full-wave solver), layout refinement, and hand-over for fabrication. Once hardware comes back, we’ll compare measured S-parameters and radiation patterns against the simulated baseline, fine-tune, and document lessons learned for the next spin. Key deliverables • Simulation files and parametric reports that clearly demonstrate bandwidth extension and gain improvement • Gerber/ODB++ files ready for PCB fabrication plus a concise build note set • A short test report summarising measurement set-up, raw data and observed deltas versus simulation • Version-controlled documentation so each design decision is traceable Acceptance criteria • Minimum 15 % fractional bandwidth increase over the reference topology provided at kickoff • At least 1 dB realised gain improvement across the new passband • Agreement between simulated and measured results within ±0.5 dB for gain and ±5 % for centre frequency The work will be paced in milestones: simulation proof-of-concept, first prototype, optimisation spin, and final production-ready design. Strong familiarity with microstrip feed techniques, substrate trade-offs, and practical RF test practices will be invaluable as this collaboration is envisioned to continue through multiple product generations.
