Looking for an animator, style and degree of experience irrelevant, you just need to be willing to work for pennies for a good cause.
The good cause is a no-budget documentary on the subject of mental illness, that's being filmed on the Isle of Wight. It includes interviews with service users, and addresses themes such as principles of recovery, and some of the main problems being faced by people trying to access mental health services, proposing simple, workable solutions alongside those problems.
An animator would be hugely beneficial to this project, vital in fact, to illustrate some of the ideas and conclusions that have arisen from the information that's been gathered.
The brief for the animator is straight forward, there are 9 key problems that have been identified, with 9 solutions being proposed, relating to mental health services, that need illustrating in a visual form, i.e. animation or a slide show, as you can't really have a film with sections of voice-over narration that have no visual element to accompany them.
So, if you're a kind hearted soul with a little time to spare, then do please get in touch. This is a really exciting and interesting project, that's supported by some high-profile organisations, and is due to get quite a bit of exposure when it's released later this year, so it probably wouldn't do your portfolio any harm, if that's something you care about. If not, the information that's being relayed is designed to help people in their recovery, and reduce the amount of needless suffering that people are experiencing, so that's not a bad reason to get involved either.
Many thanks for reading. Please pass this message on if you know of anyone who might be willing and able to help out in this capacity.
Please see attached PDF info sheet for more details. Any questions please just ask.
Have just added a PDF file with the text for the voice-over narration. Will be recording the voice-over in the next few days, but until then this should give you an idea of what needs expressing through the animation.
