WHAT THE APPLICATION IS ABOUT
The application is intended to encourage physical activity of the general population (with a focus on high-school students). It is sponsored by a national organization dedicated to the support and promotion of sport and exercise. The users can use it individually or as groups, which they can form through the application. The application monitors the users' physical activity through the Google Fit API, and selects the best individuals and groups each month. These receive tickets to draw real-life prizes awarded the sponsor each month. To motivate the users, a system of daily goals and weekly challenges (in addition to the monthly competitions) is built into the application, which can provide bonus tickets for the prize drawing. The users also receive periodic push notifications with information about their progress and messages from the sponsor.
CURRENT STATE OF THE APPLICATION
The Android application is currently under development. The group management, data collection, and the system of goals and challenges are mostly finished, and so is the display of the user's progress. The display of the information about the prizes and the notifications are not yet done. Screenshots of the currently developed application are attached to this description. We are also developing a backend and a web application where the administrator can configure the goals and challenges. The server side, however, is not a part of the job we are posting.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We would like a designer to make the application visually more attractive and to improve the usability. Due to time pressure, we do not want a complete redesign, though. We foresee the following tasks, but will discuss with the designer what exactly is feasible.
- We would like the designer to replace the existing graphical elements (pictures) with better custom ones.
- We welcome changing of colors, fonts, text size, text color, making some text bold or not, changing margins of some elements …
- More comprehensive changes of the user interface elements and their layout are possible in agreement with the developer.
- An ideal freelancer would be able to take the code of the application and change it directly so that the look and feel would improve, but the functionality would essentially remain unchanged. However, this is not a requirement and we may accept a freelancer who does not work this way.
The project starts immediately and continues until the end of August at the latest.
We would like to receive the first input from the designer by the end of May. However, since this is a short deadline, we may accept a freelancer who cannot do it.
The second deadline is by the end of June, and the designer must be able to provide significant (if not all) improvements by then. Feedback from test users will also start arriving in June.
The third deadline is by the end of August, when further tweaks will be possible if the design is not complete by the previous deadline.
