Develop an android/iOS/windows phone app to observe the data transfer characteristics between two smart devices. One device will act as server and another as client.
Requirements:
a. Check the distance at which they get connected and disconnected [range check]
b. Check the data transfer rate keeping the phones at different distances in two ways.
- In the first way, users will input their distance and transfer files. Corresponding data transfer rates will be logged in the database.
- In the second option, GPS will be used to measure the distance between devices. The file transfer and the logging activity remains the same.
c. Repeat the step b, while both of the devices are in moving state.
d. Compare the results obtained between step b and c.
e. Compare the results of step b and c with official Bluetooth specs.
g. After gathering enough data in step b, derive formula for path loss shadowing or curve fitting.
How does it differ for different devices?
f. Test the results on the fitted curve to obtain distance from data transfer rate.
g. Create multiple connections and transfer data simultaneously to observe the changes in data
Transfer rate.
h. Try with different file sizes. What is the lowest file size showing the similar trend as the larger files?
i. Repeat the steps a-f for Bluetooth RSSI, Link Quality, Bit Error Rate, and Received Power.
*Data transfer has to be seamless, without intervention of the users. Once the devices come in the contact ranges of each other they should be able to start communicating. All the results should be presentable inside the app itself.
