We need an Android developer to add iPhone-style panorama to the Open Camera app (open source: [login to view URL]). Goal: Implement panorama in Open Camera so it works like iPhone: guided on-screen motion, smooth horizontal panning, and one stitched panorama image. • Works seamlessly on both the front and back cameras. • Guides the user with the same arrow-line UI Apple uses, keeping motion smooth and level. • Captures a continuous series of frames, stitches them on-device, and outputs one high-quality image without pushing memory limits. You’ll work only against the official Open Camera codebase (or a clean fork you create). I’ll take your branch and merge it into our own app later.

Hi! I specialize in Android development with over 9 years of experience in Kotlin/Java, OpenGL, and image processing, including implementing advanced camera features. Here's how I can help: * Add iPhone-style panorama to Open Camera with guided on-screen motion and smooth horizontal panning * Capture continuous frames and stitch them on-device into a single high-quality panorama * Ensure compatibility with both front and back cameras while optimizing memory usage * Work directly on the official Open Camera codebase or a clean fork for seamless integration I can deliver a polished panorama feature that feels native and intuitive. Could you clarify if you want any additional editing options or filters applied after stitching, or just the plain panorama output?

Hi, I’ve worked on advanced image-processing features for Android apps, and I can integrate an iPhone‑style panorama by building guided panning UI and efficient on-device stitching directly into the Open Camera codebase. I’ll ensure smooth capture for both cameras and deliver a single high-quality stitched image without heavy memory use. Can you confirm whether you prefer the panorama stitching to run fully on-device even for very large outputs, or is capped resolution acceptable? Thanks, Generoso

Hi there, I see you're looking to implement an iPhone-style panorama feature in the Open Camera app, which sounds like an exciting project! My approach would involve integrating smooth horizontal panning with a user-friendly arrow-line UI, ensuring it captures images seamlessly with both front and back cameras. With my experience in mobile app development, especially in Java and Kotlin, I can efficiently stitch images on-device to produce a high-quality panorama without overloading memory. Since you want to work directly with the Open Camera codebase, I’m ready to create a clean fork for our modifications. I'm eager to help enhance the app's functionality and user experience. What specific challenges do you foresee with the image stitching process that I should be aware of? Best regards, Arslan Shahid

Cihat, for enhancing the Open Camera app with an iPhone-style panorama feature, would it be fine if I first thoroughly review the existing codebase to understand the structure and then propose a clear plan to seamlessly integrate the guided on-screen motion and smooth panning you are looking for? So I believe that by implementing the panorama feature with guided on-screen motion and smooth horizontal panning similar to iPhone, we can significantly enhance the user experience and provide a seamless panorama capturing process. By the way, have you already identified the specific design elements for the arrow-line UI guidance, or should we collaborate on creating a design that aligns perfectly with the app's aesthetics and functionality?

Hello, I’m excited to help bring an iPhone-style panorama workflow to Open Camera. I’ll implement a guided, on-screen motion with a precise arrow-line UI, designed to keep the shot level and smooth for both front and rear cameras. The approach will stitch frames on-device into a single high-quality panorama, ensuring memory usage stays within safe limits and producing one seamless image. I’ll work against the official Open Camera codebase (or a clean fork you approve) and structure the feature as a modular addition so you can merge it cleanly into your app later. Key outcomes: - Full iPhone-like panorama experience: guided motion, level indicators, smooth horizontal panning. - On-device capture, stitching, and final high-resolution image output. - Cross-camera support (front and back) with consistent UI and performance. - Clean integration with minimal risk to existing Open Camera functionality. Best regards!
