I have an AWS EC2 instance with SQL DB installed on it. The instance has a number of ports open to the internet with no firewall or WAF on the instance and this is required for the technicians and developers who work throughout the country on POS terminals. The only thing on the instance is the Security group(virtual firewall for the instance) with inbound and outbound rules with source being 0.0.0.0/0(open to all) . I have had brute force attacks today on port 1433, with more than 40, 000 attempts so far. I need suggestions on what to do in order to protect the server from the Brute force attacks please? The IP address is very crucial to us and we cannot afford to change the IP address of the instance as it will affect our production badly and all the technicians will have to be notified. Awaiting AWS security experts solutions please?
Only those who can implement a good solution to please contact. I need a good AWS security engineer, and not someone who has not worked earlier.
