To provide an overview of various unfavourable weather conditions and their effects on the

aerodynamic performance of Cessna-152, with detailed analysis of rain-induced hazards to

aircraft safety. Further reviewing the current methods for evaluating the natural characteristics

of rain.

II. Perform distinctive theoretical aerodynamics calculations comprising of drag, lift-to-drag ratio,

and lift, to assist with the analysis of effects of heavy rainfall using aerofoil analysis software

XFOIL 6.99. to validate the CFD developed model in section 4 of this report.

III. To investigate current rain research techniques like, similar wind tunnel tests and

computational numerical simulations done in the past to validate the CFD developed model in

section 4 of this report.

IV. Design a complete model of aerofoil used in Cessna-152, this will allow precise designs to be

implemented and evaluated before any further implementation, using a 2D model of


aerofoil, in STAR CCM+.

V. Conduct a brief flow investigation over the 2D aerofoil using advanced CFD software and then

later, equate this with theoretical and similar experimental findings.

VI. Comparison and interpretation of the outcomes obtained in the experiment, including scaling

consideration and comparison of theoretical and numerically simulated results, in order to

reach a conclusion.
