I want to figure out how to measure cost reductions in shipping products over time. Each month, my client ships 200 or so shipments. Each month the fuel surcharge increases/decreases as well as the following:
-size of each shipment
-locations where shipments go to changes and distances traveled
I'd like to know if there is a formula to measure if what increases and decreases in total cost should be relative to what they actually are when factoring in fuel expense fluctuation as well as weight and distance fluctuation.
The aggregate price per pound fluctuates between .08/lb and .065/lb USD but doesn't seem to follow any pattern related to increase/decrease in fuel costs or increases/decreases in weight or distance shipped on a monthly basis.
