A ball that rolls off the path vanishes in leaves so the colour must stand out. A small loop in the form would hang it from a pack strap. I can take it from the first sketch to files a maker can quote from. I'd sketch a few directions for you to pick from first. You'd get a printed sample to hold and the STEP file. What size are you after, a tennis ball or something smaller?
