I need a complete, practical design for a small-scale batch system that can recover live worm ova from wet soil without resorting to chemicals. Each batch will start with about 2 litres (≈1–2 kg) of moist soil containing roughly 500 000 ova. The eggs measure 45-55 µm long by 20-23 µm wide and have a specific gravity of 1.21 ± 0.01, so the process must preserve their viability while working within that size and density window. Mechanical separation is one route I’ll consider, I am open to any cost effective solution. Space is limited so I prefer a compact solution. And as always money is limited too. So off the shelf low cost solutions are preferred. I’m open to sieving, vibration, and gentle agitation or centrifugation and filtration, —or a smart combination of any of those. Your proposal should therefore focus on: • Process flow: how the soil is conditioned, transferred, and progressively separated until clean, intact ova are collected. • Equipment concept: A specific list of parts, equipment and devices to be purchased and assembled. • Materials and sanitation: components must be easy to clean and safe for lab or field use; stainless steel or food-grade plastics are fine as long as no exotic substances are introduced. • Performance targets: ≥50 % ova recovery, ≤0.1 % soil carry-over, cycle time fit for one 2 L batch. • Drawings & specs: A list of parts and equipment with links for off the shelf purchase and assembly. • Operating guidelines: A brief one page description of how the devices should be assembled and used. Keep it simple. Acceptance criteria 1. Design documents are complete and ready for fabrication or pilot prototyping. Feel free to reference proven lab sifters, vibratory tables, or fluidized bed concepts to shorten the development path, but the final package must be adapted to the specific ova dimensions and density stated above. The document you hand me will be the entire deliverable, and should be sufficient for me to be able to buy and assemble what you specify as well as to use it.

The hardest part of this job is designing a chemical-free separation that preserves the viability of worm ova measuring 45-55 µm by 20-23 µm. I would build this system using a series of tiered sieves, starting with a coarser mesh to remove larger debris, followed by progressively finer meshes down to 45 µm to capture the ova. Gentle, controlled vibration would be applied to each sieve layer, using an off-the-shelf vibrating motor unit, so the soil passes through without damaging the eggs. This would be combined with a low-flow water rinse to aid separation and keep the ova suspended. The most likely failure point for a system like this is clogging of the finer sieves, which would halt the process and potentially damage the ova through prolonged immersion. I would mitigate this by incorporating an automated, intermittent reverse flush system for each sieve layer, using filtered water, so debris is dislodged and flushed away before it builds up. What is the target throughput required per hour? Track record on here: 100% on time, 100% on budget, 5.0 across 8 reviews. A proposed short call on Freelancer to settle the scope would cover the exact dimensions for the compact layout and the preferred power source for the vibration mechanism.

This project needs a simple recovery system that protects ova viability while keeping soil carry-over low and the hardware affordable. With 4 years of design experience I can develop a compact mechanical separation concept around your stated size and density range. I can prepare the process flow, equipment list, CAD layout, off-the-shelf component recommendations and a clear assembly and operating guide for pilot testing. I have a few quick questions. Do you already have any sieve sizes or centrifuge equipment available? Is mains power available at the operating location? Do you want the first design optimized mainly for lowest cost or highest recovery? Thank you. I’d be happy to develop a practical prototype-ready system.

Hello, my name is Rafael. I've worked on designing laboratory process equipment and custom mechanical systems, focusing on practical, low-cost solutions built from off-the-shelf components for prototyping and pilot-scale applications. For your project, I'd develop a complete batch-process design tailored to the specified ova size (45–55 µm), density (1.21 ± 0.01) and recovery targets. The deliverable will include the process flow, equipment layout, component selection, operating sequence and detailed assembly guidance, prioritizing gentle mechanical separation methods such as staged sieving, controlled agitation, filtration and, where justified, compact centrifugation using commercially available equipment. The design will emphasize easy-to-clean stainless steel or food-grade plastic components, compact footprint, low operating cost and straightforward maintenance, while documenting expected recovery performance, soil carry-over and batch cycle time. You'll receive a complete package with parts lists, purchase links, assembly drawings, operating instructions and design rationale, ready for pilot fabrication without requiring custom manufacturing wherever standard components are available. Let's discuss your available workspace, target budget and preferred level of automation so I can tailor the design to your constraints and provide a realistic delivery schedule.
