I’m looking for a designer who can create a full set of action-camera mounts and protective housings that fit the most common skydiving helmets in use today. The mounts must lock securely onto Cookie G3/G35/G4 lids, Tonfly TFX as well as the X, X2 and X3 shells, KISS helmets, SkyHelmet models and Bonehead designs—without drilling new holes or compromising the helmet’s integrity. On the camera side, every GoPro generation (Hero 1 through the latest), Insta360 units and the current non-360 Insta models all need dedicated, low-profile cradles that slide into the appropriate helmet base. I want one cohesive family of parts, so swapping between cameras or helmets should be as simple as changing a module. Deliverables • CAD files (STEP + native format) for each helmet base and each camera cradle • Assembly drawings that show how the base and cradle connect and how the unit attaches to the helmet • A short print/production guide so I can run the parts on an FDM or SLA printer and know the recommended materials and infill Acceptance criteria The assemblies must: 1. Hug the helmet curve with minimal drag. 2. Survive free-fall speeds and hard openings without play. 3. Allow quick camera removal while keeping the lens line of sight clear of risers. 4. Print without supports on a Prusa-sized build plate or smaller. I’m comfortable with SolidWorks, Fusion 360 and Onshape files, so use whichever package you prefer as long as STEP exports are clean. If this sounds like something you can knock out, let’s talk timeline and milestones.

Hi there! I can design lightweight, secure helmet camera mounts optimized for skydiving and 3D printing. A good mount must minimize snag points while maintaining rigidity under high-speed airflow, with safety always prioritized. I develop manufacturable CAD models with clean assemblies, ready for prototyping and refinement. ✅ Which helmet and camera models should the mounts fit? ✅ Is the design intended for 3D printing, CNC machining, or injection molding? ✅ Do you need STEP files only, or STL and technical drawings as well? Check portfolio: www.freelancer.com/u/rvwebfreelancing/mech Looking forward to collaborating with you. Best, Rahul

Hello, I have extensive experience designing precision mechanical assemblies, modular mounting systems, and production-ready CAD for CNC machining and 3D printing, including parts that require accurate fit, efficient assembly, and repeatable manufacturing. I’ve developed interchangeable component families with parametric CAD, optimized for FDM and SLA printing, while producing clean STEP exports, native CAD files, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation. I will develop a modular mounting system with dedicated helmet bases and camera cradles, ensuring consistent interfaces across the product family, accurate fit to the supported helmets, and geometry optimized for reliable printing and production. Each component will be designed with manufacturability in mind, accompanied by assembly documentation and material recommendations so the prototypes can be evaluated and refined efficiently. Could you confirm whether you can provide 3D scans or accurate measurements of each helmet and camera model, or should the geometry be developed from manufacturer specifications and reference dimensions? Also, do you have an existing quick-release interface you would like all camera cradles to share, or should a new standardized modular connection be designed for the entire system? Regards

Designing a modular camera mounting system that fits multiple skydiving helmets without drilling while keeping aerodynamic drag low is the key engineering challenge here. The interface between the helmet base and interchangeable camera cradle must remain secure under free-fall loads yet allow fast camera swaps. My approach would begin by defining a common locking interface shared across all helmet bases and camera cradles. Each helmet base would then be modeled to match the helmet curvature, followed by dedicated low-profile cradles for the supported GoPro and Insta360 models. Finally, I would review the assemblies for printability, structural robustness, and ease of installation without additional helmet modifications. I have extensive experience in mechanical product design, CAD development, and designing functional 3D-printable components with manufacturing constraints in mind. My focus is on producing clean, maintainable CAD models rather than one-off prototypes. Deliverables include native CAD files and STEP exports, assembly drawings, and a concise printing guide covering recommended materials, print orientation, and infill. Up to two revision rounds are included. The proposed scope is based on the current description. Additional helmet or camera models, new features, physical testing, or production validation can be quoted separately. The final schedule will be confirmed after reviewing all reference files. Before defining milestones, could you clarify whether accurate CAD geometry or 3D scans are available for each helmet model, or should the helmet interfaces be developed from publicly available dimensions?
