I’m building an interactive robot around a micro:bit and I need a mechanical / 3D design engineer to turn my concept into a production-ready CAD package for FDM printing. The model must combine rigid PLA/ABS shells with TPU joints or pads, include neat cable channels, screw posts, snap-fit clips for fast assembly, and a hidden battery bay. Please integrate proper seats for the micro:bit + expansion board, several micro-servos, an ultrasonic sensor and a few RGB LEDs, while leaving a clear window so the micro:bit LED matrix remains visible. The motion system should feel smooth and reliable rather than toy-like; I’m happy to discuss linkage layouts or gear trains that suit FDM tolerances. Good DfAM practice is a must so the parts print without excessive supports on a standard 0.4 mm nozzle. Deliverables • Editable CAD source files (Fusion 360, SolidWorks or similar) • STL set ready for slicing, with TPU pieces separated • Exploded view and step-by-step assembly guide (PDF) • Simple wiring diagram showing all boards, servos, sensor and LEDs • MicroPython or MakeCode snippet that proves the motors and LEDs are addressed correctly If you enjoy designing functional, print-ready robots with clean internal layouts, I’d love to see your approach and a sample of previous work that shows similar integration of electronics and mechanics.

With a solid reputation as a skilled 3D designer, I bring six years of devoted mechanical experience to the table that makes me uniquely suited for your project. I have a comprehensive understanding of and extensive hands-on experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, and Blender – the very tools you mentioned for this project. Throughout my career, I have consistently delivered functional, production-ready designs- this skill has been honed especially through my work on numerous 3D printable designs. Your requirements of integrating several micro-servos, an ultrasonic sensor and RGB LEDs, while maintaining a clear window for the micro:bit LED matrix are right up my alley: I have successfully overseen similar projects in the past - all achieving exemplary results. Moreover, I believe in designing not just impressive end-products but also comprehensively useful ones. This belief aligns perfectly with your need for neat cable channels, screw posts, snap-fit clips for fast assembly and hidden battery bay - where I excel in ensuring even the minutest details of a design are accounted for. Finally, adhering to DfAM practices will minimize unnecessary supports while maximising the performances of your robot which is an area I thrive in – optimizing the final design to make it as productive and resource-efficient as possible; Even more so when considering standard 0.4mm nozzle utilisations.
