Hi, I’m looking for someone to help me design and source/manufacture a small glass vial with an integrated collapsible spoon, based closely on the attached reference image. Product concept The product consists of: * Small clear glass vial/jar suitable for storing spices, seasonings or other legal powdered products. * Screw-on plastic cap. * A small measuring/scoop spoon attached to the underside of the cap, so when the cap is removed the spoon comes out with it. * Approximately 36 mm spoon length based on the reference product. * A longer plastic section running alongside the outside of the vial that allows the spoon/stem to fold or collapse into a compact position when closed. * The cap, spoon and folding mechanism should operate as one integrated assembly. * Leak-resistant/secure closure. Reference: Please study the attached photos carefully. I want the overall mechanism and functionality to be very similar to this product. What I need from you I’m looking for someone who can help with: 1. Creating accurate CAD/3D drawings of the complete product. 2. Determining practical dimensions, tolerances and materials. 3. Designing the cap/spoon folding mechanism so it can be injection moulded. 4. Producing manufacturing-ready CAD files. 5. Identifying manufacturers capable of producing the glass vial and injection-moulded cap/spoon assembly. 6. Getting prototype/sample units manufactured before mass production. 7. Advising on tooling/mould costs and expected unit pricing at different quantities. I am not just looking for a 3D visualisation. The ultimate goal is to take the design through to a physical prototype and then mass production. Please tell me if you have previous experience with small injection-moulded plastic mechanisms, caps/closures, glass containers or similar consumer products, and provide examples of relevant work.

Hello, I reviewed your product concept, and the key challenge is turning the reference mechanism into a practical, injection-mouldable assembly while keeping the vial secure, compact, and easy to manufacture. I would develop the complete 3D/CAD design for the glass vial, screw cap, integrated spoon, and folding mechanism, with suitable materials, tolerances, clearances, and assembly considerations. The design would be developed with both prototype plastic production and future aluminium tooling in mind. I would also prepare manufacturing-ready CAD files and help identify suitable manufacturers for the glass and injection-moulded components, including prototype sampling, tooling considerations, and estimated unit costs at different production quantities. I have worked on similar consumer-product development, injection-moulded mechanisms, closures, CAD modelling, and manufacturing preparation projects and can share relevant examples once we connect in chat. Also a quick question, do you have the exact vial dimensions and target capacity already, or should those be established from the reference product and intended use? Regards, MadTech

Hi, The main challenge is not the vial itself. It is making the cap, spoon, and folding arm work as one reliable injection moulded mechanism without leaks, weak hinges, or assembly problems. I can build the CAD around your reference, define practical dimensions and tolerances, design the foldable spoon assembly for moulding, and prepare manufacturing ready files for prototype and supplier review. I can also help structure the design so tooling cost and unit pricing can be quoted clearly. I work with mechanical CAD, product design, prototyping, and DFM for small consumer products. Do you want the mechanism copied as closely as possible from the reference, or improved where manufacturability can be simplified? Happy to help take this from concept to physical prototype.

Hello, The key challenge is converting the reference mechanism into a practical, injection-mouldable cap/spoon assembly that is compact, secure, and suitable for eventual mass production. I’d develop the vial, cap, collapsible spoon, and folding mechanism as a coordinated CAD assembly, defining practical dimensions, clearances, material choices, and tolerances while considering injection-moulding and assembly requirements from the beginning. I’d also prepare manufacturing-ready files and help evaluate suitable glass/plastic manufacturers, prototype options, tooling, and indicative unit costs at different quantities. Can you provide the reference images and any target vial capacity or overall dimensions so I can assess the mechanism and propose the most practical CAD approach?

Hi, I can help develop your glass vial and integrated collapsible spoon concept from reference design through prototype-ready CAD and manufacturing planning. I’ll focus on the complete assembly, including the glass container, screw cap, spoon mechanism, folding section, tolerances, materials, and injection-mould-friendly design. I’ll handle the 3D CAD development, mechanism refinement, manufacturing considerations, and preparation of production-ready files. I can also support prototype planning and evaluate suitable manufacturing approaches for the glass vial and molded plastic components. Question: Do you have the exact reference product dimensions or only the attached images for creating the initial CAD concept? Best regards

Hi, I can deliver manufacturing-ready CAD for the glass vial with an integrated collapsible spoon and take the design through prototyping to supplier quotes. The primary risk is sealing the screw-on plastic cap while allowing a compact folding 36 mm spoon and a longer internal stem to nest without binding; I address this by defining a controlled hinge clearance, snap-fit retention, and an elastomeric or O-ring seat for leak resistance early in CAD. I have direct, hands-on experience designing small injection-moulded plastic mechanisms and caps/closures for consumer packed goods, and I have produced tooling-ready parts and prototypes for glass container assemblies. Recent work includes cap-integrated scoops and folding hinge geometries for food and powdered product packaging, with full CAD, tolerance stack-ups, and supplier-ready drawings handed to mould shops and glassware manufacturers. My first concrete step is a detailed 3D concept sketch and tolerance stack for the cap/spoon hinge and sealing interface, followed by a single-part injection-mould feasibility review. I will produce STEP and native CAD files, specify materials (e.g., food-grade polypropylene or copolymer for the cap/spoon and borosilicate or soda-lime glass for the vial), and generate estimated tooling and unit pricing ranges based on cavity count and target volumes. - Do you have target annual volume and preferred cap material? - Would you like a sealed sample run first or a functional 3D-printed proof of concept? Happy to hop on a brief call whenever it suits you. Christopher
