We have an iPhone app currently in the app store that we would like to port to the Android platform and sell through the Android marketplace. The app is an audio streaming app that connects to a public Shoutcast / ICEcast server, and streams audio to the device. The audio player view is very similar to the iPod app, where it has Play / Pause button, and a slider to adjust the volume. To play audio, it uses CFNetwork to capture the network packets, and AudioToolbox to convert the network packets to audio and passes them to the media services of the OS. There is also an update process which connects to our server and downloads a new database of streams periodically. I own 200 radio stations with the technology IceCast and 200 radios with ShoutCast technology. I like a player that played those 400 radios, the user must select in relation to each of these 400 radio and listen. He can also choose by genre. This does not have to be a full implementation of the icecast server, it just has to listen to a specific port (defined) and capture the Ogg information from the stream. This code must be some framework that I can implement into my existing code so that it will run in the background if called and I have a method to query the two values.
