Contest Brief

I need a cover front cover design for an ebook I am in the process of editing.

I have no images or concept art so please read the description of the setting and the characters and let your imaginations run wild. I'll always answer queries and questions if you feel like you need more detail before starting your design.

As I can't guarantee the eBook will sell I won't be offering any ongoing royalties and will need to own the image exclusively but I will happily list your name on the dedication page along with any URL's to online portfolios which I hope might attract some extra attention to the winner.

I ask that the final submission be in at least a JPEG and a pdf.

The ideal size is 1000 x 1600 pixels

As I have had requests in the past this is to let to let everyone know for future reference, I will NOT be sealing the project. If the small prize money did not give me away the budget for this is very tight and sealing the project costs another £30.00 which, unfortunately, I just don't have to spend.

I am sorry if this puts people off and I will keep an eye on designs and if one does start to resemble another freelancers work I will reject the entry for that reason. Also if a freelancer feels that their work is being ripped off they can post a message here, or email me privately if they wish at mythicalkitten@gmail.com, and I will reject entries if I agree they are being reworked.

It must have the eBook title which is "Blood" and the author name (me) shown as "K F Williams"

A quick history behind the novel is that Earth and another world called Favlas which is full of magic and mythical creatures are joined by a ribbon of energy which allows free passage between the two worlds.

For the book itself:

It centres around a women called Hannah Roberts who has a special magical marker in her DNA making her telekinetic. She becomes the target of several Blood Dependants (think vampire just without the garlic, sunlight and religious connections) who know that by ingesting her blood they can also take on her powers. Protected by a Dragon Shifter Aolir she is in a race against time to find the Blood Dependants who would do her harm and bring them to justice before they add her to their list of 'Blood donors' and make her disappear forever.

    Hello there. How should the Dragon guard look like? Is it modern times Earth? I assume she is an Earthling. If you would like an abstract/artistic cover I don't need any more info, but If it needs to be accurate according to the book, then I think we all need a few more details. I'll start working on it right away :)

      As in previous posts this is earth, she is british, it is the future but see below for details, the dragon description is also listed on the comments below as well, but big, red, with a long tail, large back legs and paws on his wing that would fold up like a terrorsaur, quite difficult to get images like that so it doesn't have to be 100% accurate, a little artistic license is fine

    Hi, I'm working on this for you, but would love some more info for the details. What kinds of objects does the lead move around telekinetically? Is she in her 20s? Is the novel set in the present day?

      She is in her early 20, the book is set in the future but about 70 years after a magical upheaval known as 'The Pause' which basically crumbled cities and threw back industrial progress. It is not post apocalyptic in the true sense of the word because the two worlds work peacefully there is government and people live very regular day to day lives. It just means that things we would think of as futuristic like flying cars and such haven't been invented yet. as for things she wields, we are talking small stuff like pens and things at first, but at the end of the book when forced to defend herself she does use a firemans red axe. Hope that helps

    By images owned by you, I mean images that have no royalty rights and which I don't have to attribute to a 3rd party and can tell people were put together by artists like yourself. I know that finding royalty free images on an any search engine is easy. There are even companies you can buy imagines for a small amount of money which you can then reuse and modify to your hearts content for as many different projects as you like. But I don't have photoshop (or a program like it) and no artistic ability to combine those images, which is why I come to freelancer and ask talented people like yourselves to help. I have to trust that you are honest enough to do that legally.

    Sorry but you can't claim rights for image in google coz i can easy find your portfolio in google and use your personal staff to earn money. Some people here use content from games, tv shows, moves. Pls be careful.

    As mentioned in the brief I will need to own the cover. If you don't own the copyright of the images don't submit a cover. I can't award a prise for a cover that is illegal to use

    just wondering, that the design what you like would be a montage of movies and computer games characters?I can do it, but I am not sure if it legal to publish without any rights. It's your decision, I will make one of that then and I will upload at the evening. Cheers!

    The girl is white with plain straight brown shoulder length hair and brown eyes. She is a six but is not considered beautiful. The most extraordinary thing about her is her telekentic gift.

    The book is set in London. The main character works at the British museum with the Dragon working in a fair travelling across earth from fables selling otherworldly items. When shifted, the Dragon is red with diamond shaped scales he has large hind legs a long tail and his wings fold down to act as his front paws.
