Thank you for taking an interest in this design contest.
Several skill areas that are required to succeed in the contest, amongst them, icon design, graphical user interface design and user interaction design.
First, you should spend a couple of minutes to understand our product and our business. An entertaining entry point in doing this is to watch our promo videos (~1 minute each):
About Safemate: Safemate is a GSM- and GPS based personal alarm button that the user carries along with him/her. When the user gets in trouble, he/she may trigger the alarm by pushing the alarm button. Preconfigured phone numbers are called in parallel, and the first one to respond to the call is connected to the Safemate user in the form of a regular phone call (user may opt for sequential calling). When the Safemate backend has established who actually responded, this information is sent in an SMS along with information about when the alarm was triggered and an URL showing the movements of the Safemate - to all alarm recipients. It is also possible to track the user from a web or mobile GUI, which is often a feature used for people with dementia. In addition to being a user-driven alarm (panic) button and a GPS tracker unit, Safemate offers features such as geofencing, auto-tracking, battery alarms, and, sometime in the future, fall detection.
More general background information can be found on our web site, www.safemate.no/en.
Today, we offer a web based GUI to our customers. This GUI is tailored for the B2C market where users rarely have more than three to five Safemates. We refer to this B2C GUI as “Customer Web”. Customer Web may be examined by following the instructions found at: https://www.safemate.no/en/demo/.
Most of our customers are municipalities, which operates 20-150 of Safemates each. When reaching numbers like this we need to present to our customers a different GUI than Customer Web.
The Municipality customer GUI - "Pro Web" - that we want to create is what this design competition is about.
Our experience in the field have given us an idea of what we want the Pro Web to be like. Wire frames for 18 screens have been crafted in Balsamiq. We think that this page structure will serve the customer well, however, if there are valid arguments to go for a different structure, we will listen.
If you are still interested in this competition, you should view the YouTube screen cast that I have put together (25 minutes):
Icons needed (I think):
- Global settings
- User administration
- Add a new Safemate
- Municipality organization
- Buy Safemate and accessories
- Statistics and reports
- Overall Safemate status (in alarm, attention required and healthy)
- Battery icon with percentage
- Sound volume indicator
- Connected to 24/7/365 alarm response or not
- Currently in tracking mode or normal mode
- Alarm recipients list (event setup)
- Safemate settings
- Safemate on map
- User triggered alarm
- Fall detection alarm
- Geofence in alert
- Geofence out alert
- Low battery alert
- Failed self check alert
- Stationary for too long alarm
I suggest that you start with the dashboard, the event setup list, the Safemate list ("Safemates") and one of the two three-step-wizards.
I will be able to give you a feedback as we go along.
See attached PDF for wire frames.
“I seems easy to just give five stars in all categories, but in this project I sincerely think it is well deserved. What I got from this contest was outstanding. ”
