I currently have a small device that contracts on a linear plane by pushing the two ends together with my fingers. This compression is held in place by teeth of opposing directions, see attached photo. The problem is that I need more pressure to tighten, create a secure hold, than fingers alone can apply. I would only need to ratchet 1-2 more teeth to achieve a complete and secure hold. I'm looking for something that can advance the slide portion, seen in photo, and possibly utilizes the current opposing tooth design. I am open to re-design of this system as long as it simple but effective. Ultimately I would like a solution that incorporates what I have but is easy to use and does not require external tools to achieve.
Clarification: The design in the photo works so I don't need any re-design to what's in the photo. I need some type of advancement device. For example, what are not in this picture are attachments to the slide ends that hold tension and as the slide is compressed, teeth advanced pass each other, the tension increases. The tab with teeth in the picture simply keeps the slide from slipping back the other direction and thus decreasing tension. I will post another picture.
Not seen in this photo; The slide portion fits in a channel and one side has teeth and the other is smooth. The smooth side can also be utilized but simplicity is my goal. I cannot disclose what this device is used for because of patent issues.
Thanks for any help.
