Konkurrence Instruktioner

Python Coding CONTEST on stock price binary classification.

INPUT: A Pandas DataFrame containing a stock's open-close-high-low prices and volume info. See the link to see some examples.

TASK DESCRIPTION: Implement a strategy to predict "good" BUY signals. To know what's a "good" BUY signal, take a look at the boolean True values of the dataframes "class" column or just observe the red dots of the attached sample chart to get a rough idea. Note: For the sake of simplicity, no SELL signal exists, making it a binary classification problem.

Note: it's up to you to choose the solving approach (Machine Learning? Simple statistical rules? Basic algorithms?). No requirement exists for this choice.

Yes, they are contained both in the code template (as remote calls) and also as link to Github Repository (see original blog post description: https://www.pisciottablog.com/2022/04/22/coding-contest-python-timeseries/ ). If not still clear, feel free to ask again : )

The contest is running in parallel here and outside (see the blog post in the description). The only difference is that on Freelancer.com there is a deadline of one month and only here the 250 EURO Prize will be given (since it's a guaranteed contest). But anyone else (even after the deadline, outside Freelancer) submitting the code has the freedom to choose to be or not to be published and if yes, under which nickname and personal website (if given). Of course, nothing will be done without prior consent of the Code Creator.

will you announce the winer at the end of deadline or as when you are satisfied with someone entry?

      • 1 år siden

As per Freelancer regulation, the guaranteed Prize (250 Euro) MUST be given to someone in ANY case at the end of the contest. But since this contest will "virtually" run for another month following the given deadline (externally, not on Freelancer), people will still have the possibility to submit their solution (but no Prize is expected in that case, since it only applies here within the Freelancer deadline). So the Freelancer winner is annoucend in any case, but if someone publish a better solution, he/she will also be announced later publicly on Twitter/LinkedIn/Xing and on the original blog (with no money prize).

Timestamp of predictions should be kept as Index, same as the test input dataframes. Please note that the predictions Series is already initialized ("predictions = pd.Series(data=True, index=df.index)") so it should just be manipulated. If you need, to know more exactly how does it looks like, you can take a look at the test input dataframes ( https://github.com/Pisciotta/test_csv ) from where the index is taken.
