Konkurrence Instruktioner

We (NASA) need to develop a number of high resolution 3D models to be used for Robonaut simulations. These 3D models are to be developed based on photographs of real items (see attached files). These simulated objects would be used for various grasp and manipulator testing.

This particular challenge is to build a 3D model of one end of a sheathed hose. This is an example of the many hoses and cables that are found on the space station. It is sheathed in a protective covering (e.g. ortho-fabric that is used in space suits). This item will be used by the Robonaut team to develop vision and grasping controls to increase R2's ability to interact with non-rigid, compliant objects in its workspace.

There is a scale in the attached imagery is in inches. All final model submissions must be delivered in on of the following formats: .prt (Solidworks, ProE); .step or .stp; .iges; .stl; .dae. NOTE: Freelancer submissions will need to be image file views of your model. If you win the contest, you will then send/transfer the model files to NASA via email, dropbox, etc.

All entries will be judged on the accuracy, quality, and fidelity (detail) of the model produced. Note that where highly similar top submissions are produced, the submission entered first will win.

Arbejdsgiverfeedback

“Haryo did an outstanding job of creating a very detailed 3D model of a sheathed hose for use in our NASA robonaut simulation. This was a contest and Haryo\'s design was selected from multiple entries.”

One question, when you say "This is an example of the many hoses and cables that are found on the space station..." It means you need exactly same model as your pics showing or you need me add more ideas? Thanks!

Quick question for the community. Do you prefer submissions for this kind of a contest to be sealed or unsealed?

we need the file in one of the following formats: .prt (Solidworks, ProE); .step or .stp; .iges; .stl; .dae. However, most of the popular 3d applications does support those formats. Hope that helps.

We appreciate your interest and thoroughness. However, we want to see what folks can provide based just on the photographs. Thanks!

Hello, your title says "(One End)", in one of the .JPG images you show the 2 ends. Would you like the design with 2 ends or just one end like your title says? Thanks in advance for your response.

One end is mandatory/minimum. Both end would be bonus. Hope that helps.

no matter how fast we humans can go, it will take too many generations to reach to that planet inside the ship, maybe around 200 more or less...
