Good morning Jim,
I placed screen 1 and 2 together in one image ( #80 ) for easier viewing.
The size of each drawing is currently 1136 x 640, according to your specs.
If necessary, it can easily be changed to 960 × 640.
Thank you for all your great feedback and your guidance.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO CONTEST HOLDER:
the entries by arshadali764 are using manipulated vector-based clipart stock image (Copyright: Lorelyn Medina).
The character has been decapitated and the head replaced by another clipart head by another author.
Because of the design style of the original author (Lorelyn Medina) it is fairly easy to cut off the head and even replace the arms from one illustration by arms from another illustration by the same author; and in some cases, like in this one, change the t-shirt color.
Feel free to check this link:

I have assembled a word document containing 11 pages of links, where you can see drawings from the same collection by Lorelyn Medina, in case you are interested.- 11 år siden

No, arshadali764, not "all person". Some people here are actually really drawing by hand, with a Wacom tablet and a Wacom pen.

in #69 I added light reflections to the left side of the body and shoulder of the ninja. This is the light reflected from the nightlight that shines from behind the tree.
I think it makes sense to have it this way but I'lll leave it up to you do decide what looks better.
In #70 I went a little over the top and added some blue glow to his body. Although I think it looks nice, it might take away from that "asleep" feeling that we are trying to convey...but I'm leaving up to you again.
Other elements that might be interesting to add in the future: a couple go glowing fireflies - it could be an asset or it could make the drawing too busy but it would still be interesting to consider it. Or maybe they could be part of the screen with the story scroll.
Let me know.- 11 år siden

PS - you might have noticed that the flash light button on the belly of the ninja is fully turned off.
That's because he is asleep ;-)- 11 år siden

In #68 the beam of light (night light) is a little bit more hidden behind the tree.
I also added a "go to list of stories button". Not sure I'm a 100% happy with how it looks, but it's something we could talk about and don't mind revising and improving it, should you judge that necessary.- 11 år siden

Hi Jim,
#67 is the finished version of #61 for page 2.
I'm trying to think where to put the stories scroll. Because this isa full screen illustration, I fear it might get too busy. So I'm thinking about adding a button to go to another page for story-scrolling.- 11 år siden

Hi Jim,
#61 is NOT the final product, just a quick hand-drawn sketch.
This is the idea for the second screen - the nightlight screen. The ninja is asleep under a big tree. A night light (a beam of light towards the sky) is shining from the ground behind the tree.
Let me know if you like the idea.
I will finish the drawing to make it look sharp crisp and clean, like the one for the flashlight screen.
Thanks,

I do like it. Now that you point out it is a hand drawn sketch I see why it does not quiet match your other screen. But I do like the concept!

Because of your creative drawings the app has evolved a bit. And I really like where it is going.
* Could someone add a scroll box to the night light (2nd) page. The scroll box would be for the selection on a bedtime story while the child is going to sleep with the night light. If this does not make sense, then please ask me a question so I can clarify.
FIRST PAGE = Flash Light page with link to night light and link to setting page for choosing characters if necessary.
SECOND PAGE = Night Light page. Includes adjustment for timer and dimmer and now a selection box for a bedtime story and a link back to the Flash Light page.
Note: If you think the story selection makes the page to busy then suggest a story time button/link to a Third page.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SKILLS AND CREATIVITY. We will fully include the winner in the credits for this app.- 11 år siden

I like that concept. Maybe I can hire you to help me build a story around that concept and this can be a story book and a flashlight and a night light. What kind of arrangements could we make it hiring you or partnering with you in regard to making this into a more impressive theme based app?

#52 - the ninja is now outdoors, just by adding some grass to the landscape.
This is just to demonstrate that the composition can be simple or more complex. It's only a matter of personal preference.- 11 år siden

#51 is only to display the flexibility of the background. I can easily add or remove each star.

Ps - thinking maybe about adding a sward with a red handle to the back of the kid, behind the kid...But don't want to make it too violent, so still hesitating on that.

Hi Jim,
entries #48 and #49 are a possibility for boys (ninja theme). The flash light switch is on the belly of the ninja and it changes color from yellow to blue = on/off. I added a strobe bar. By sliding the button on the bar the flash light can flicker slower or faster. The strobe button is a ninja weapon (one of those metal stars they throw).
This is only for the first screen - the flash light screen. Still working on the nightlight screen.
For the transition to the nightlight screen, I was thinking maybe the child can click on that bright star on the right. But I'm not sure its clear,so in the meantime also thinking about maybe placing a button there. But I don't want to compromise the balance on the screen.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

A couple boys in our group that are reviewing the apps said ...
"Can they just make it look like a cool flashlight?"
I think they believe just a flashlight image without characters would be better. I do not know, but would love for someone to create something for them to see. (They tell me they like the buttons like in #6 , but want them to be part of a light.)
I am just throwing it out because we basing our choices on what the kids say.
Get input from your kids and show me what they really like. (Let me know the age and gender of your child that liked what you submitted and we will really take that into consideration.)- 11 år siden

Note that the first page will be the interface for the KIDS FLASHLIGHT and the second page will be the interface for the NIGHT LIGHT.
The second page must have controls for timer and dimmer and they must have links to move back and forth between the two. Grace & Peace to you! jim- 11 år siden

Hi, what smart phone are we talking about? Because I wasn't able to find anything with the res 1440*640, I believe the iphone 5s res is 1136×640 and the iphone 4S and iPod touch is 960x640. Just need to clarify, thanks.
