We run a weekly webcomic about computers, programmers, web developers, and browsers. It's located at:
https://comic.browserling.com
Before you start, take a look at the comic to understand what this comic is about.

Your job is to illustrate the following computer joke and turn it into a single panel cartoon:

> ASCII a stupid question, get a stupid ANSI.

This is a pun on "Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer" expression.

This may be a bit hard to understand. To understand it you've to know concept of "ASCII Art" and "ANSI Art". Please Google these terms (do image search) and see the attached pictures that show difference between ASCII art and ANSI art.

Basically ASCII Art is drawing with text symbols. You use all possible alphabet symbols and / \ + - _ ' " ~ etc symbols to draw images.

ANSI Art is much richer, it has colors and more different special characters (such as shadows and so on) and this type of art is made out of block characters.

The idea here (you can suggest your ideas as well) is to illustrate left half of cartoon using ASCII art and the right part of cartoon using ANSI art. Since this is a single panel cartoon, ASCII part should merge with ANSI part to create a nice transition.

One of ideas that I've is we could've two computers. The computer on the left is drawn using mostly ASCII style and it's connected with the computer on the right, that is drawn using mostly ANSI style. The computer on the left displays "?" and the computer on the right displays "!" as in question/answer. And there's a cool transition between ASCII/ANSI parts so they're intermixed and create a cool effect. This is one of ideas.

Another idea is that it could be two characters arguing and both have big speech bubbles. One of persons (on the left) is drawn using ASCII characters and simply has a question mark as in asking a question. The other person on the right is rich in color and made out of ANSI. The person on the left (ASCII) has a speech bubble and it just says "?" - as in asking a question, all made out of ASCII characters. And the person on the right has a speech bubble that says "!" - as in answering the question, made out of ANSI characters and blocks and it's rich and colorful. The scene is composed together to create nice visual effect so that left and right parts create a nice transition.

Another idea could be that the left part is simply a big question mark "?" made out of ASCII, and the right side is "!" made out of ANSI and there's an awesome transition between left and right sides and a lot of detail.

I'm open to all ideas that you've. If you're not sure if it would be a good idea, I'll then leave a comment and I'll tell you what I think. Or you can just submit a quick demo illustrations and I'll say if I like it and we can then make adjustments.

Here are some online tools that may be helpful. They convert images to ASCII/ANSI art:

https://picascii.com/
http://www.glassgiant.com/ascii/
http://manytools.org/hacker-tools/convert-image-to-ansi-art

(And many others - google for "ascii convert image" and "ansi convert image")

The final cartoon has to be 1000x1000 PNG image.

The best illustrators will be able to work with us long term. We'll need 2 cartoons per week so there's going to be plenty of guaranteed long-term job.

Usual cartoon price is $20 - $30 for 1 panel, but since this cartoon will be #60, the price is $50 to have really great and detailed cartoon and to celebrate this round number.
