Contest Brief

Illustrate the cover design for a series of children's ebooks.

The series will have a sporting theme and be aimed at young boys.
The example you are to use is:

"FANTASTIC JOE vs THE LIONS"
(The Lions are a human sports team, not animals. Additional stories will have similar titles - eg: Fantastic Joe vs The Jets, Fantastic Joe vs The Giants etc)
The cover should present an outdoor, sporting feel and NOT feature a face-forward depiction of Joe. The visage of Joe is strictly to be left to the readers imagination.
Footballs, Grass, Jerseys etc may all be used, yet try to maintain a minimalist approach that still impresses.
The design should be easily convertible to an ebook format, specifically for Amazon.com

The winner of this contest may also be commissioned for additional work.

  As alluded to in the brief, you can assume that it is a football team, though this can be portrayed as American, European, or even Australian football. Entries where the style of football/outdoor sport can be identified as generic/indigenous regardless of rules or geographical region will gain favour.
