     Looking through your portfolio, I wanted to give little thoughts for my book illustration contest. I rather liked the style of the first three illustrations in your character development portfolio. This is more along the style that I would be interested in vs. the "computer graphic" style of other illustrations. I hope this helps!

     Good Question...I'm not looking for "biblical times" illustrations. These aren't Bible stories, but rather illustrations of truths the Bible teaches. I think the best options will be within today's context. Feel free to stretch or test ideas, if you like

     sorry for the delay...illustrations that are more impressionistic and use color, light/dark to convey emotion/meaning. Even though they are very different styles, I can see many of the kind of illustration above as working well. Some of it will be finding how the illustrator finds best to convey...I hope this helps!

     I just saw this comment...sorry for the delay. Yes, we're looking at illustrating "theological truths" as opposed to scenes. This will tend to lean more toward more abstract rather than telling a story. An idea might be to have a collage smaller images, or a single scene that tells a part of the truth.

     One idea I've shared with a couple people for the second truth, is to show a poor, filthy person who is robed in royalty, receiving riches and blessing...just an idea, but this could be used to illustrate the abstract truth #2. I hope this gives direction.

  Please give a description to a scene that you wanted for us to better understand the image that you want to be illustrated. For example do you want to show people doing sinful things because that is the topic you had shown?

     For truth 1 - try thinking, "How can I depict how dead and sinful men are?". They don't necessarily need to have an image of Jesus in them...also, having it w/ characters in modern attire/time will help bridge it and show it as applicable to us today. Thank you!
     For the second truth, I see 2 main points we'd want to revolve around: 1 - while we are "filthy" w/ sin, in Christ, we're clothed in his righteousness (sinlessness). 2 - While we have nothing, In Christ, he has blessed is in such great ways.
     This is a project that will be used with children and young people, so we don’t want to be graphic in the “sinful acts” and violence.
