We are creating a new product which is 100% natural, 100% vegan, and gluten free. In addition to these great attributes, it also is made with no artificial preservatives or colourings; just a combination of natural herbs and spices that are combined to create a condiment that will ADD FLAVOUR TO YOUR MEAL. It really needs to STAND OUT as it will sit on very busy shelves.
I've just come across a cool brand called SpicEntice and although their logo is bit bland their packaging really stands out. Just wanted to share it with you as a good example of stand out branding.
Best use for this product is on toast, melted cheese toasties and bland sandwiches to add flavour but we have found that people use it on ALL sorts of other dishes in different recipes.
It is going to be presented in small glass jars and available only through specialist delis so needs to have a high end feel but also a broad appeal as it will eventually make it into the mass market.
The name of the product is Mi Spice so it is as personal to each person as their individual tastes and how they like to use it. The Mi Spice product (i.e. the condiment) sits under the overarching brand of 'The Herb Pantry'.
A very important factor to consider when designing the logo is that it needs to be very warm and inviting. Key words when describing the product are: FLAVOUR and TASTE. It's aimed at families (or moms buying for their family/kids) and young adults.
So I need a logo that incorporates The Herb Pantry as the overarching brand with Mi Spice sitting prominently and distinctly as the product brand name. Both or one can incorporate an image but they need to be able to work together, with Mi Spice being the prominent logo on a label with The Herb Pantry sitting in smaller print as the source of the product. What I would envisage is something like Schwartz herbs where Schwartz is the overarching brand (same as 'The Herb Pantry') and Mi Spice is one of their spice/herb names - but Mi Spice needs to have a clear and distinct identity.
Mi Spice will have a website so any logo design would need to work great on the square jar (as in the pictures attached) for the packaging as well as paper bags for refills and also on the website.
It needs to be modern and to stand out when it is placed on a shelf full of other herbs and spices like paprika, etc. It needs to appeal to both the younger generation and families with children where it will be a family staple and is the modern day 'marmite' for those of you who live or have lived in the UK (also known as Bovril in Australia). It's the perfect ingredient to add flavour to any dish. Wake up your taste buds with this gentle flavouring that will bring your food to life - that is the key message for this product and needs to somehow come across in a very mild and modern way.
I have uploaded a couple of examples of product packaging/branding that I really like to give you an idea of where I'm coming from and also a Word document that shows a couple of logo ideas that are also very warm and clean yet modern and soft.
The winning designer will have a chance to work with me on the remaining branding for this product, including the website design.
Look forward to your ideas :-)
