We are looking for new designs for muzzle brakes, including 3D drawings as well as 2D manufacturing drawings. The two most important factors of these muzzle brakes are effectiveness and style.

What is a muzzle brake?
A muzzle brake is an accessory that is threaded onto the muzzle of a gun barrel, for the purposes of reducing the recoil when the gun is fired. This is done by dispersing a portion of the gases out the side of the muzzle brake, instead of all the gases exiting straight out of the center hole of the muzzle. It is important that the gas be released equally out the left and the right side of the brake, otherwise the result will push the gun in the opposite direction that the gas is released.
Many guns also rise when fired, so it would be acceptable to have holes on the top, without having matching holes on the bottom. This would send gases upward, pushing the barrel down and mitigating the ‘rise’ when firing.
We plan to make these in both standard steel with a black oxide finish, and stainless steel. Muzzle Brakes are most commonly 2”-3”, although the length of muzzle brakes ranges between 1.25” and 6”.
Essential components:
Internal thread: The internal thread should be 5/8 of an inch deep
Through hole: There must be enough clearance through the whole muzzle brake for the bullet to pass through, which is the bullet diameter +0.030”.
Gas expansion area: Most effective muzzle brakes have a larger internal opening in between the threaded portion of the muzzle brake and the through hole. This allows the gas to expand and then be forced to go through the smaller hole in the front, and/or escape through the holes on the sides/top.
Summary:
We would like you to provide 3 unique designs for muzzle brakes. If we choose your designs, we will want the 3D files as well as 2D dimensioned drawings. We will also want multiple variations of each, adjusting the thread and through hole of the muzzle brakes to accommodate different firearms. Please see attached table for further details on these variations.
