- Status: Closed

- Winner: patlau
Contest Brief
"Ice cream is such a happy thing ... and Kids should Help Kids."
And it was with these simple words, that 11 year old, Oliver Spencer and his friend Cameron created "Ice Cream Day", a not for profit that is raising money for the Starlight Children's Foundation, supported by Streets Ice cream.
Oliver and Cameron now have sponsorship from Avant Card (www.avantcard.com.au) to print 10,000 postcards and they are looking for the most eye catching, awesome and exciting design that will promote Ice Cream Day and IceCreamDay.Org, a registered supporter for the Starlight Children's Foundation
Oliver's objective of the postcard campaign is to spread the word, get kids and their parents excited by this idea, and to encourage the kids to get their schools to signup to participate in the next ice cream day which will run Australia in late August / Early September (data to be announced).
Elements for the two sided Post Card design must:
1. Align to the design requirements for Avant Carde at: http://www.avantcard.com.au/index.php/resources/artwork/
(Size, image quality etc)
2. Include a refreshed / enhanced logo for Ice Cream Day using the current one at www.icecreamday.org as a guide (the ice creams in a circle represent kids putting their 'hands in' from all walks of life to participate in making a difference for other kids)
3. Include on at least one side of the card a version of the Starlight Children's Foundation Supporter logo that can be found at: http://www.starlight.org.au/Pages/ShowYourSupport.aspx
Other ideas can also be found at www.icecreamday.org or in the attached Mission and Strategy presentation
So do you want to be part of something really awesome, for a great cause?
Ever thought you would be working for a very interesting 11 year old?

I would like to thank EVERYONE for their contributions to this years Icecreamday.org postcard competition. You guys made it a hard choice, there were several designs that we really liked. VERY close runners up included designs from LuisEduarte and mparrino who really came up with great ideas that we wanted to use as well.

Thank you everyone for your contributions to 2014 Ice Cream Day design a postcard competition. So many great entries and so much good work.. Its going to be hard to pick just one card! Oliver is going to start to short list the cards he most likes over the next few days, so as part of this process we will eliminate the cards that are not a good fit at this time, So if you get a 'Reject' it isnt because we didnt like your card, its just that we loved another card that bit more. We will get it down to 15-20 cards (we had over 129 entries) to make it a little easier to make the final choice. Thanks everyone! @icecreamorg

Ok, Competition is now 'SEALED' (sorry not closed, wrong word), Some general feedback for all entries: 1. Streets icecream are donating 20,000 paddle pops, they are a stick style ice cream (rather than icecream cone), check out streets website if you are unfamiliar with paddle pops 2. There have been some good concepts, but nothing yet that we wanted to award the prize to.. if we are getting close we will let you know in case there is a last minute entry. 3. We are hoping to wrap this up early if we can 4. The Kids helping kids line is no way manditory, use your own creative skills 5. No ppt or ppt like submissions please, 6. If you have questions ask.

Not sure about clip art style.. Some interesting ideas are getting explored, but some general feedback: 1. Streets ice cream will be donating paddle pop icecreams rather than the typical Cone style ice creams (its not essential but i suspect that paddle pop /stick style ice creams may work better). 2. The message should be clean and compelling, too much text makes it hard to quickly understand. 3. Great postcards are clever, they use an image and text to provoke you, make you think. On the www.avantcard.com.au site there are some great examples of clever postcard concepts. take a moment to look at a few of these, work on the idea first before you hit photoshop.

Thanks for the initial posts folks.. I will probably take the advice that I am getting and close this. But in the meantime what I would ask is for people to take their time, we are after a design that is AWESOME.. imaginiative.. $400 is a decent prize so take your time.. The object of the postcard is to suprise, delight, stand out, show imagination and be original.

To avoid spam and pirated designs you must Seal the contest so that no one can see others design. You can also REPORT the SPAM design and they will not be able to submit another SPAM in your contest. The REPORT option is available top right corner of each entry.
