Contest Brief
Need to redesign my magic the gathering card game front page to accommodate new features. Only need design work. Will implement the html/css myself. Preferably basing the designs on twitter bootstrap will ease development for me, but only a little.
You can see the existing page at http://mtgfiddle.com
The new page should have the following sections
-New Articles. This should have some articles on it. A photo in the shape of a card with a title, author, date, category(hash tags are fine) and some summary text
-Top Decks. This should be a list with the following information: Title, Author name, date, category(Standard, Modern, etc), # of views. There should be 4 tags you can select: All, Standard, Modern, Legacy. Only one can be selected at a time.
-Newest Decks. Same as above
-A call to action to "Share your Deck" which should open a form (the form currently on the page)
-Header which has links to the Home Page, a drop down to each of the major cateogires (Standard, Modern, Legacy), a link to the Feedback page, and a login/logout modal.
-Footer Should include existing links as well as links to social network pages
Other Notes:
Site should translate well to mobile. This is extremely important.
Updated color scheme is definitely desirable, but please note readability is #1.
The new things I want to change are as follows:
- Remove the form on the front page. Instead a call to action "Post your Deck" should be visible on the front page possibly even opening the form when you click it.
- Remove the tags from the front page.
- Clean up the social section.
- Remove the background image. White seems to be boring, maybe some off color thing or something else.
Bonus:
A updated logo would be nice. I'm willing to update the bid for a nice logo.
I like creative entries. If you think something is wrong or could be better, I highly appreciate it.
Clean lightweight designs are good, also prefer lighter colors.
There are some competitor sites to look at (mtggoldfish.com, starcitygames.com, mtgvault.com).
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Thank you everyone for helping out. Looking forward to awarding a winner.
Edit: You can see some of what I'm working on in the screen shot, but as you can tell, i'm not very good at making it look good.
